… finding a lonely planet
U
ntil Hoi Polloi is built and based on the stunning silence in response to my manufactured authenticity concept, it might be awhile until you can visit a new Venice staffed by friendly folk from the Maldives, you can avoid the crowds on your next trip by using the tourist density heat map.
This map uses the number of photos from a given location uploaded to Google’s geotagged photo-sharing site Panoramio to judge an area’s touristyness. It’s a rough guide for getting off the beaten path.
How to read the map: yellow indicates high touristiness, red medium touristiness, and blue low touristiness. Areas having no Panoramio photos at all are grey.
