Dispatch #1 from Tampa, Florida
Nobody walks in the States – nobody. My walking three blocks to the local grocery store today was treated with wonder and amazement. I am in the north of Tampa, the older section, not far from the University of Florida, but really far from any beach as I can figure.
Recycling garbage smacks of socialism apparently, everybody is overweight or heading hard in that direction, apart from the skinny, sinned-out old black men who also seem to walk a lot… but I’m not sure exactly where to.
The prices of food and goods is sweat-shop cheap and the portions of foodstuff are all over-sized like the people.
